5.123

若別教，說苦道，非即是真性大般涅槃而有真性涅槃之理；若生死苦道滅，方顯真性得常住涅槃；明煩惱道不即是實慧，斷煩惱盡，實慧方圓；明業道不即是方便，斷業別起方便化物，是則十二因緣三道滅，得三種解脫。雖辨真常三種解脫，猶是思議之相也。

As for the distinctive teaching, it states that the path of suffering is not identical to the true nature of great parinirvāṇa, but that there is the principle of true-nature nirvāṇa; only when the path of suffering of birth-and-death is extinguished is the true nature revealed and eternal nirvāṇa attained. It explains that the path of affliction is not identical to real wisdom; only when affliction is completely severed is real wisdom perfected. It explains that the path of karma is not identical to expedient means; severing karma, one separately gives rise to expedient means to transform beings. In this way, when the three paths of the twelve links of dependent origination are extinguished, the three kinds of liberation are attained. Although it discerns the three kinds of true and eternal liberation, these are still conceivable characteristics.
