Answer: This sūtra says: 'Dharma is called unstained; if one is stained by dharmas, even up to nirvāṇa, this is not seeking the Dharma.' The Lotus Sūtra says: 'Merely departing from delusion is called liberation, but in truth they have not yet attained all liberation.' 'Merely departing from delusion' refers to the views and thoughts within the realms, and saṃsāra of delimited portions. 'In truth they have not yet attained all liberation' refers to the views, thoughts, and delusions of ignorance beyond the realms, and saṃsāra of inconceivable transformation. This is differentiated as in the earlier discussion of the distinctive teaching.
