First, explaining the use of the four siddhāntas to generate the door of existence: if the minds of sentient beings take pleasure in existent dharmas, one uses the worldly siddhānta to speak of the Abhidharma's door of existence; if it is suitable for them to hear [it] so as to generate goodness, one uses the individual siddhānta to speak of the door of existence; if they grasp at causelessness or perverse causes, or grasp at emptiness and form attachments, generating defilements and karma, one uses the therapeutic siddhānta to speak of the door of existence for them; if they awaken upon hearing it and perceive the primary truth, one uses the primary-truth siddhānta to speak of the door of existence for them. As with Kauṇḍinya and the others of the five persons, who upon hearing the preaching of the four truths immediately perceived paramārtha-satya and attained the fruit of stream-enterer. If one cannot use the four siddhāntas to generate conditions and preach, then one preaches the Dharma incongruously with the faculties, being an enemy of sentient beings, a heavenly Māra or non-Buddhist, joining in league with them. The Nirvāṇa Sūtra says: 'Preaching the Dharma is the realm of the buddhas, not what can be known by śrāvakas and pratyekabuddhas.'
