問：此諸菩薩定皆是十地等覺位不？答：北方諸師從初地至十地。南土諸師云是八地九地十地也。復有師例，如《大品》云，皆補處也。今謂不爾。前明本迹，高下莫測，何須定判？

Question: Are all these bodhisattvas definitely at the stages of the ten grounds or equal awakening?
Answer: The masters of the North hold that they range from the first ground to the tenth ground. The masters of the South say that they are at the eighth, ninth, and tenth grounds. Other masters follow the rule, as in the *Dàpǐn*, that they are all in the position of succession.
Now we say this is not so. As explained earlier regarding original [status] and manifest traces, their heights are unfathomable; why must one judge definitively?
