問：穢土十惡所感四趣依正皆穢可然，但十善果淨土因同，何得依正頓殊別耶？答：二處修因善名雖同，淨土修善精微勝故，故彼凡聖所得依正不同穢土。

Question: That circumstantial and direct retribution in a defiled land are both defiled as induced by the ten unwholesome actions is plausible; but since the karmic cause of the ten wholesome actions for a pure land is the same, how could circumstantial and direct retribution differ so drastically? Answer: Although the name "wholesome" for the cause practiced in both places is the same, the cultivation of the wholesome for a pure land is subtle, exquisite, and superior; therefore the circumstantial and direct retribution obtained by those ordinary beings and sages is not the same as in a defiled land.
