問：《玄義》處處多明觀心，已恐不可入文；復爾，將不壞亂經教耶？答：說經本為入道，若懷道之賢觸處觀行，豈有尋求聖典而不觀行者乎？但巧說得宜，非止不損文義，兼得觀慧分明。分別法門，非觀何逮？豈有壞亂之咎也。

Question: The Profound Meaning clarifies the contemplation of mind extensively in many places, and it was already feared that this could not enter into the text; doing so again here, will it not disrupt and confuse the sūtra's teachings? Answer: The expounding of sūtras is fundamentally for entering the Way; if virtuous ones who harbor the Way practice contemplation at every turn, how could there be anyone who seeks sacred scriptures without practicing contemplation? As long as it is skillfully and appropriately expounded, not only does it not harm the meaning of the text, but it also causes contemplative wisdom to become distinct and clear. In distinguishing the dharma-doors, if not through contemplation, what could attain it? How could there be any fault of disruption and confusion?
