問：《華嚴》豈得名不思議？此經一名不可思議解脫，何故反謂非耶？答：此經既有兩名，豈獨《華嚴》更無別稱？然細尋《大論》前後所引不思議經，悉是《華嚴》。如說謳舍那優婆夷為須達那菩薩說度眾生數量，乃是《華嚴》明善才入法界所聞之事；若引此經，即云「毘摩羅詰所說」。

Question: How could the Avataṃsaka be named "Inconceivable"? This sūtra is alternate-named "Inconceivable Liberation"; why then do you say it is not [this sūtra]? Answer: Since this sūtra has two names, how could the Avataṃsaka alone lack another designation? Furthermore, when carefully examining the Inconceivable Sūtra cited throughout the Dàzhìdù lùn, all instances refer to the Avataṃsaka. For example, when it describes the upāsikā Oṣadhī explaining the number of sentient beings saved to the bodhisattva Sudhana, this is an event heard by Sudhana upon entering the dharmadhātu as explained in the Avataṃsaka; when it cites this present sūtra, it explicitly says "expounded by Vimalakīrti."
