問：淨土是菩薩行，何得約二乘心？答：《大品》明三乘，十地皆行皆學而不取證，佛亦學亦證。《法華》云「少欲厭生死」，實自淨佛土。若二乘心非淨佛土者，何得菩薩成佛之時有二乘眾生來生其國？

Question: A pure land is a bodhisattva practice; how can it be explained in terms of the minds of the two vehicles? Answer: The Dàpǐn clarifies that across the three vehicles and ten grounds, [bodhisattvas] practice all and learn all without taking realization, whereas the Buddha both learns and realizes. The Lotus [Sūtra] says, “With few desires, weary of birth and death,” which in reality purifies the buddha-land oneself. If the minds of the two vehicles were not the purification of a buddha-land, why would beings of the two vehicles come to be born in that land when a bodhisattva attains buddhahood?
