四、釋經文，為三：初釋直心。今言「直心是淨土」者，前約教明直心是正因，能感正果，即是下文光嚴所述「直心是道場，無虛假故。」今約直心，明是依因能感依報國土果也。

Fourth, interpreting the scriptural text has three parts. First, interpreting the straightforward mind. Here saying, “The straightforward mind is a pure land”: previously, in terms of the teachings, it was explained that the straightforward mind is the primary cause capable of bringing about the primary fruit; this is precisely what is stated below by Ratnacūḍa: “The straightforward mind is the bodhimaṇḍa, because it is free of falsehood.” Now, in terms of the straightforward mind, it is explained that as the dependent cause it is capable of bringing about the dependent retribution of the fruit of the land.
