2.27

「佛之威神」下，二、明如來合蓋現瑞。此為二：一明合蓋、二正明現相。初文者五百各獻，表各修因。合為一者，表一圓果。既有正因能感正果，則成依因感得依果。言「遍覆三千」者，表一果體無緣大慈普覆法界。若論正報，普集已說。今所現相，正表依報普覆一切。

From "By the Buddha's spiritual power" below: second, clarifying the Tathāgata joining the canopies and displaying a miraculous sign. This has two parts: 1. clarifying the joining of the canopies; 2. directly clarifying the displayed marks. In the first passage, the five hundred each presenting a canopy symbolizes each cultivating the cause. Joining them into one symbolizes the one complete fruit. Since there is the direct cause capable of evoking the direct fruit, the dependent cause is established to evoke the dependent fruit. The phrase "covered the three-thousandfold [great trichiliocosm] everywhere" symbolizes that the unconditioned great compassion of the one fruition essence universally covers the Dharma realm. As for the direct retribution, that has already been spoken in the Gathering of All [Sūtra]. The marks now displayed directly symbolize that the dependent retribution universally covers all.
