第五意者，淨名往昔隨物機動、隨處彈呵即便教謝，若不因命弟子，豈得大眾同聞，為如來印定，益正像末之四眾也。

Regarding the fifth point: In the past, Vimalakīrti rebuked beings as their capacities were stirred and wherever they were, and then the teaching ceased. Had it not been for instructing the disciples [to go], how could the great assembly hear it together and have it sealed and authenticated by the Tathāgata, benefiting the four assemblies of the true, semblance, and final [Dharma ages]?
