5.106

「如是」下，大段第二次命五百。經本既略，並不度此。若五百皆被彈呵，即是五百比丘依三藏入道，各說身因，淨名還用衍教五百法門彈呵折挫，別相分別顯發枯榮。既不傳此，寧可厝心而解釋也。

From "Thus" below: the second major division, instructing the five hundred. Since the sūtra text was abridged, none of these were translated here. If all five hundred were rebuked, this means that the five hundred monks entered the Way relying on the Tripiṭaka, each speaking of the causes of their own bodies, and Vimalakīrti likewise used the five hundred Dharma gates of the Mahāyāna teaching to rebuke and break them down, distinguishing their particulars to reveal their fading and flourishing. Since this was not transmitted, how could one direct one's mind to explain it?
