5.11

「無以穢食置於寶器」者，此諸比丘久發大心，大心即是法性真心，出法性外無別真心。寶器者，菩提心如寶，容佛法如器，此即大乘器世間也。穢食置者，小乘法喜禪悅，帶塵沙無明之穢。滿願以不入定觀諸比丘大心寶器，為說小乘法喜禪悅食，此不可也。

As for "Do not put foul food into a precious vessel": these monks had long ago brought forth the great aspiration; the great aspiration is the true mind of the Dharma-nature, and outside of the Dharma-nature there is no other true mind. As for "precious vessel": the bodhicitta is like a treasure, and containing the Buddha's Dharma is like a vessel; this is the vessel world of the Mahāyāna. As for putting in foul food: the Dharma-joy and dhyāna-delight of the Hīnayāna carry the defilement of the dust-and-sand [delusions] and ignorance. Pūrṇa, because he did not enter samādhi to contemplate the precious vessel of the monks' great minds, preached for them the food of Hīnayāna Dharma-joy and dhyāna-delight; this is unacceptable.
