問：何故密記？答：有菩薩心行未熟，若聞授記心則放逸，不得現前受記。

Question: Why is prophecy given secretly? Answer: Some bodhisattvas have not yet matured in their mental practice; if they were to hear their prophecy of buddhahood granted, their minds would become indolent, so they cannot receive prophecy manifest in person.
