From "Vimalakīrti" onward, eighth, Vimalakīrti returns the women. This has four parts: first, Vimalakīrti returns the women; second, the women request the Dharma, wishing to return; third, expounding for them the Dharma gate of the inexhaustible lamp; fourth, the women pay homage and depart with him. As for the first passage, the great being originally always cultivated the practice of giving, and it was solely to tame the māra that he said, "One like me should accept them." Now that the māra was tamed and the women had generated the aspiration, by releasing them back to the māra's palace they could further pervasively transform others, so he relinquished and returned them to the māra. Regarding "causing all sentient beings to attain the fulfillment of their vows for the Dharma": returning them fulfilled their vows. Relying on this, he made a vow that all seekers of the Dharma would attain the fulfillment of their vows for the Dharma.
