6.87

「何謂也」，四、善得重請。所以重請者，淨名略答，言略義深，雖顯法施其意宛然而猶未了。又迹示未悟，為令時眾普得開解法施之益故也。

As for "What does this mean?", it is the fourth part: Śāntamati's renewed request. As for why he requested it again: Vimalakīrti replied briefly, his words brief but their meaning profound; although the Dharma gift was revealed, its meaning was subtle and not yet understood. Furthermore, he provisionally manifested not yet being awakened, in order to enable the assembly of that time to universally attain understanding of the benefits of the Dharma gift.
