Question: If so, do the Prajñā and Lotus Sūtras explain buddha-nature or not? Answer: If this Vaipulya sūtra still has this meaning, how much more so the Prajñā? Therefore the Great Sūtra says: "Regarding buddha-nature, there are five names: namely, buddha-nature, prajñā, Śūraṅgama, Vajra Samādhi, and Lion's Roar Samādhi." Furthermore, the Great Sūtra explains achieving the great fruit and truly seeing the Tathāgata nature, citing the Lotus Sūtra's eight thousand śrāvakas who received predictions and achieved the great fruit, like the autumn harvest and winter storage where there is nothing further to be done—this is precisely that meaning. As for contemplation of mind: if one knows that in a single thought the twelve links of dependent origination are endowed with the principle of the ten realms and three paths, this is precisely the three Tathāgata seeds and the three kinds of buddha-nature. Thus the three paths and non-ways do not obstruct the three virtues, just like the worldly letter 'i'; all dharmas are likewise. This inconceivable wisdom and principle is precisely penetrating the Buddha's path through the non-ways; therefore it is titled the "Chapter on the Buddha's Path".
