From "manifesting entry" to "causes and conditions," sixth, this explains manifesting the receipt of human retribution—the non-path of the path of suffering—to reach the Buddha Path. This consists of eight phrases: the first seven manifest receiving human retribution, and the last one generally explains universally entering the various paths. The first seven pertain to receiving the various experiences of the four continents. These retributions are all non-paths; yet entering provisionality from emptiness, one cultivates the four kinds of samādhi such as the illusion-like [samādhi], and not having fully perfected the Buddha-Dharma, one ultimately does not extinguish these experiences to realize realization. As for the last phrase, "universally entering all paths and severing their causes and conditions": the worldly paths do not exceed the six [destinies]. This text has not yet explicitly mentioned asuras and the six desire [heavens]; if one receives these paths, they are also the non-path of the path of suffering. Yet cultivating the six kinds of samādhi such as the joy samādhi and the immovable [samādhi], not having fully perfected the Buddha-Dharma, one ultimately does not extinguish these retribution-experiences to realize realization, thus being able to reach the Buddha Path. As for "severing their causes and conditions," attaining the twenty-five samādhis can destroy the twenty-five realms of existence, which is precisely severing their causes and conditions. Furthermore, universally entering all paths means universally entering the paths of the ten dharma-realms. Severing their causes and conditions means severing the three paths of causes and conditions for bodhisattvas of the four teachings.
