問：諸師多云此經未明佛性。何得引《涅槃》明十二因緣是佛性義以釋此品？答：《大經》云「若言十一部經不明佛性，非謗佛法僧。若說十二部經不明佛，性即謗佛法僧。」今此方等具十二部，何得言不明佛性？

Question: Most masters say that this sūtra has not yet clarified buddha-nature. How can you cite the Mahāparinirvāṇa Sūtra's clarification that the twelve links of dependent origination are buddha-nature to interpret this chapter? Answer: The Mahāparinirvāṇa Sūtra states: "If one says that the eleven divisions of scriptures do not clarify buddha-nature, this does not slander the Buddha, Dharma, and Saṅgha. But if one says that the twelve divisions of scriptures do not clarify buddha-nature, that is slandering the Buddha, Dharma, and Saṅgha." Now this vaipulya [sūtra] possesses all twelve divisions; how can one say that it does not clarify buddha-nature?
