From "together with the remaining" to "approached the assembly": third, listing the assembly of the eight classes. The meaning of the eight classes involves many matters; here we explain briefly according to the text. "Of great authority and power" runs throughout the eight classes. The preceding text only brought out Brahmā and Śakra; now it further encompasses collectively the five heavens of the desire realm and the five anāgāmin heavens of the fourth dhyāna, each with kings and retinues coming together to hear the Dharma. The actual practitioners can be understood. If they are provisional traces born in these heavens, they abide in the Immovable Samādhi to be born in the heaven of the Four Heavenly Kings, in the Pleasing [Samādhi] to be born in Yāma, in the Blue [Samādhi] to be born in Tuṣita, in the Yellow [Samādhi] to be born in Nirmāṇarati, in the Red [Samādhi] to be born in Paranirmitavaśavartin, and in the Mirror-Reflecting [Samādhi] to be born in the Anāgāmin [heavens]—all to guide the various devas to come hear the Dharma.
