"All virtuous ones... [generate the] anuttarasamyaksaṃbodhicitta": Third, concluding the exhortation. Having learned that the virtues of the buddha body are like this and arise from such supreme causes, if one wishes to long for the fruition and practice the cause, how could it stop at benefiting oneself? The great being feigned illness to help the Buddha promote the teaching precisely to benefit beings. If all you virtuous ones are able to long for the fruition and practice the cause, you should also join the Buddha and Vimalakīrti in severing the illnesses of all sentient beings. Sentient beings' illnesses, as clarified previously, are: ordinary persons, the six-pāramitā bodhisattvas, and the two vehicles and shared-teaching bodhisattvas all have the illness of conditioned and unconditioned causes and fruitions; bodhisattvas of the distinct and perfect [teachings] have the illness of the cause and fruition of their own essence. Therefore, now the four teachings, each following their understanding, should sever them to seek the unexcelled path; thus it concludes by establishing the intent of transforming others.
