From "Vimalakīrti" to "is complete," third, clearly encouraging leaving household life through contemplative practice. This should possess four propositions: first, leaving neither in form nor mind; second, leaving in form but not mind; third, leaving in mind but not form, which is leaving household life through contemplative practice; fourth, leaving both in form and mind. Therefore he encourages them again, saying: "You only need to generate the mind, and this is leaving household life." However, as for what the Buddha instituted, Vimalakīrti originally knew it, and therefore agreed. But because the elder sons each had Mahāyāna roots of goodness, he encouraged them to generate the mind to seek the true unconditioned, thereby leaving the household of the two kinds of death. However, precepts arise from the mind; if the mind for the Path is generated, the categories of bodhisattva precepts are simultaneously generated with the mind; hence it is said: "this is complete."
