“Mañjuśrī arrived at the single couch” is second, clarifying Mañjuśrī's entering the room, seeing the signs, and understanding what they signify. “Seeing that his room was empty and devoid of anything” means he knew it signified that all buddha-lands are empty, definitely intending to disclose, support, and fulfill the teaching on buddha-lands. Seeing him lying alone on a single couch on account of illness, he knew it signified the liberations of the three virtues, definitely intending to reveal, support, and fulfill the Buddha's teaching of the inconceivable liberation. Thus the Dàzhìdù lùn says: “A wise person understands wisdom, just as a snake knows a snake's feet.”
