From "For instance" onward is the third [part], elucidation through a simile. The text has two: first, unfolding the simile; second, applying the simile. Unfolding has two: first, unfolding the simile of having an illness; second, unfolding the simile of recovering from the illness. First, using parents as a simile: a bodhisattva gives rise to great compassion from the two wisdoms and abides in the stage of the single child, which is to be the parent of sentient beings. All sentient beings equally possess the principle of the nature; hence it says "only has one child." If sentient beings of the three lands have the real illness of delusion and craving, the great compassion of the two wisdoms of the dharmakāya will respond and arise in the three lands; hence there is the provisional illness. Second, unfolding the recovery from the illness can be understood.
