From "With one's own..." below is the second [part], clarifying the use of the separate teaching to console unconditioned causal aggregation. The bodhisattva originally has the actual illness of cause and effect of the separate afflictions as numerous as the sands of the Ganges; [this teaching] causes them to enter the contemplation of provisionality from emptiness to shatter ignorance, attain the wisdom of the types of the path and the Dharma eye, perceive capacities, and enter provisionality to transform beings. The text has five [parts]: first, consoling to exhort the arising of a mind of compassion; second, exhorting the generating of vows to benefit; third, exhorting the cultivation of blessings and wisdom; fourth, exhorting the production of a valiant mind; fifth, exhorting vigor without regress. If these five are complete, then the contemplation of entering provisionality is accomplished, capable of benefiting all. "Pitying their illness with one's own illness": the first clarifies exhorting the arising of a mind of compassion. Why? The two vehicles lack compassion and sink into emptiness to experience bliss. The bodhisattva emerging into provisionality must give rise to great compassion.
