From "the eight wrong ways down to [...] are the seeds"—the fourth part again explains the seeds in terms of the path of defilement. The eight wrong ways are as explained previously in the chapter on Kāśyapa. Not discarding the eight wrong ways and yet entering the eight right ways is precisely the meaning of the seeds. "The nine grounds of vexation" are the conditions that give rise to anger based on offenses against one's feelings across the three times: namely, that this person in the present life has harmed me, has harmed my friends, has praised my enemies; the past and future are also like this. These are the nine grounds of vexation. If one has skillful means, these are conditions for giving rise to loving-kindness; therefore they are able to be the Tathāgata-seed.
