"Direct Vision" (Pratyakṣadarśana): the exhausted is the exhaustion of views and thought by the two vehicles; the unexhausted is the boundless saṃsāra of ordinary beings. Now, contemplating the exhausted and the unexhausted as empty: emptiness cannot be exhausted and cannot be unexhausted; therefore it is said: "Ignorance is like space, inexhaustible; old age and death are like space, inexhaustible." If one speaks of exhaustion within what is neither exhausted nor unexhausted, it is called ultimate emptiness. If one speaks of non-exhaustion, wondrous form is serene and ever securely abiding, not shifted by saṃsāra. Since it is neither exhausted nor unexhausted, there are no two extremes, and one attains entry into the nondual door.
