Second, from 'All speak of...' onward, explaining the common name. Regarding 'not yet having given rise to true cultivation,' prior to the stages and abodes of the separate and perfect [teachings] it is called condition-based cultivation; ascending to the stages and ascending to the abodes is called true cultivation. Referring to the three persons, because their ignorance remains entirely intact, they all generate intentional thought to be born into that land. Although the initial samādhi-attainment relates to the shared teaching's entering into emptiness and being received and introduced into the separate and perfect [teachings], it is still subsumed under condition-based cultivation. Therefore Jingxi says: The meaning of true and condition-based cultivation applies across both the shared and separate teachings.
