肅甞受經於公門、遊道於義學，雖鑽仰莫至而嗟歎不足，故序其述作之所以然著乎辭。

I, Su, once received the sūtra at the Master's gate and engaged in the Way through doctrinal study; though I drilled and looked up without ever reaching [the peak], my sighs and praises were never enough; therefore, I have written a preface setting forth in words the reasons for his composition.
