問：何故不題云略疏耶？答：題下既云「沙門某甲略」，故題中無略字。厥或題為略疏，則題下但得書名而已，則更不合有刪略等字。如杜預注《春秋傳》，上既題云「春秋經傳集解」，故下但書「杜氏」二字。何晏注《論語》，既但題云「論語第一」，故下書云「何晏集解」。今荊溪立題意，與何晏同。

Question: Why is it not entitled Abridged Commentary? Answer: Since it already states below the title "Abridged by Śramaṇa So-and-so," the word "abridged" is absent from the title itself. If it were entitled Abridged Commentary, then below the title it would only bear the author's name, and there should not be words such as "abridged by." For instance, in Du Yu's commentary on the Commentary on the Chunqiu, because it is titled above as Collected Explanations of the Chunqiu Classic and Commentary, it merely writes below the two characters "Du Shi." In He Yan's commentary on the Lunyu, because it is merely titled above as Lunyu, Chapter One, it writes below "Collected Explanations by He Yan." Jingxi's intention in establishing the title here is identical with that of He Yan.
