Second, he clarifies our school's non-attachment, which has two parts: first, he directly clarifies non-attachment. Regarding "three teachings, two teachings, one teaching," and so forth: Jingxi says: Three is also merely the gradual and other three teachings; two is sudden and gradual; one means the single voice. No teaching means without verbal discourse. Even among the eight teachings, one applies a single one as appropriate, yet uses all teachings to combine with contemplation and mutually harmonize them, with the intention of making one enter the path by expedient means without obstruction. If not so, how does one differ from non-Buddhists? Therefore, one is caused to generate practice from the teachings, practice and teachings supporting each other, taking awakening as fundamental. Regarding "the slightest attachment": the *Classic of Changes* states: "That which worries over regrets and remorse lies in the slightest." Han Kangbo's commentary says: "*Jie* means minute."
