二、菩薩眾，二：初、敘意分科。二、隨文釋義，五：初、明類，二：初、事解，二：初、略示。二、「具」下，廣釋，二：初、翻解名義，二：初、什師存略。二、「翻」下，諸家翻解，二：初、汎舉諸家。「開士始士」者，荊溪云：心初開故、始發心故。「古本翻高士」者，古翻此經也，升出凡小故名高士。

Second, the assembly of bodhisattvas, in two parts: first, stating the intention and dividing the sections; second, following the text to explain the meaning, in five parts: first, clarifying the category, in two parts: first, phenomenal explanation, in two parts: first, a brief indication; second, from "In full" onwards, extensive explanation, in two parts: first, translating and explaining the nominal meaning, in two parts: first, Master Kumārajīva retaining the abridged [form]; second, from "Translating" onwards, the translations and explanations of various masters, in two parts: first, generally citing the various masters. "Enlightened being (kaishi), initial being (shishi)": Jingxi says: "Because the mind is first opened; because one first generates the mind [for awakening]." "The ancient version translates it as eminent being (gaoshi)": the ancient translation of this sūtra; ascending and transcending ordinary beings and the Small [Vehicle], they are therefore named 'eminent beings.'"
