二、觀解，二：初、略指佛世。「事如前說」者，即前事解是。菩薩於佛世，頓漸益物也。

Second, contemplation explanation, which has two parts: first, briefly referring to the Buddha's lifetime. As for "the phenomena are as previously explained": this is the preceding phenomenal explanation. Bodhisattvas in the Buddha's lifetime benefited beings through the sudden and the gradual.
