二、「問淨」下，釋難顯宗，六：初、敘昔彈訶非助佛國難，二：初、問難。已前彈訶者，謂訶五百八千悉敘昔事。荊溪云：問如何得知訶皆在昔？答五百八千皆云「憶念我昔曾於」，知是已前。今說淨土，去命時近，故知訶時悉在前也。

Second, from "Asking about Jing[ming]…" downward, resolving difficulties and revealing the theme, in six parts: First, the objection that the past reproaches do not assist the Buddha Land, in two parts: First, raising the objection. The reproaches of the past mean reproaching the five hundred and eight thousand, all narrating past events. Jingxi states: "Question: How is it known that the reproaches were all in the past? Answer: The five hundred and eight thousand all say 'I recall that in the past I once…', so we know it was before. Now, the preaching of the pure land is close in time to the designation [of the theme], hence we know that the times of reproach were all prior."
