二、合譬，二：初、合成譬。「若純用」下，荊溪云：此經斥二乘。而云通教菩薩亦何能淨者，何故復云通教菩薩有淨土因？然為遮其取證空耳。二、合不成譬空。

Second, matching the analogies, in two [parts]: first, matching the analogy of success. From "If solely using" onwards, Jingxi says: This sūtra reproaches the two vehicles. Why then does it say that how could a Shared teaching bodhisattva also purify [a land], and why does it further say that a Shared teaching bodhisattva has the cause for a pure land? It is to prevent their attaining realization of emptiness. Second, matching the analogy of non-success to emptiness.
