Question: Why are the [three] clarities and [eight] liberations taken as the truth of the path? Answer: The three clarities fully possess both the direct and auxiliary paths: the undefiled is direct, while the past and future are auxiliary. The truth of the path does not exceed direct and auxiliary practices. Alternatively, the three clarities are direct, and the eight liberations are auxiliary. Furthermore, regarding the eight liberations: if one penetrates the principle of true reality within phenomenal dhyānas and can apply it for transformation, true principle is direct, and transformative application is auxiliary. Only when regarding such [practices] is it called the truth of the path.
