Fourth, differentiating Jingming's single difficulty yielding three benefits. As for 'Xiaxiang': it is also the name of a county and a prefecture. When the Qin general Bai Qi attacked Chu and burned Yiling, it was this very place. Emperor Wu of Wei established Linjiang Commandery here. Under the Later Wei it became Tuozhou, taking the meaning of "opening up and expanding". Under the Later Zhou, because it was located at the mouth of the Three Gorges, it was accordingly named Xiazhou. As for 'The difficulty posed in one encounter', and so forth: Jingming's single difficulty caused the assembly to fall silent, subduing all appearances. The three teachings' refutation of attachment corresponds to people's actions and cessations.
