問：眼不分教，力何以分？於分仍有判權實耶？答：此亦成於眼家體用。若淨五眼，根力必全。一往文中似相生相，莫不皆以降魔所成，故用降魔以為本也。下去文相並本並生，何但獨頭迭生迭本。

Question: If the eyes are not divided according to teachings, why are the powers divided? And within the division, is there still a determination between provisional and real? Answer: This also accomplishes the substance and function of the eyes. If the five eyes are purified, the faculties and powers are necessarily complete. In a provisional reading, the text appears to show mutually generative characteristics, but none are not accomplished through the subduing of Māra; hence, subduing Māra is taken as the fundamental. The textual marks below are both fundamental and generative; how could they merely stand independently, generating one another and grounding one another in succession?
