問：今云五住皆除，云何對三脫耶？答：圓融三脫皆破五住。若約別對，不無其旨。真性脫無明，實慧脫見思，方便脫塵沙。以總收別、以別簡總，宜令得意，無失圓旨。

Question: Now it is said that all five dwellings are eliminated; how do these correspond to the three liberations? Answer: The perfectly integrated three liberations all eliminate the five dwellings. If matching them specifically, there is nonetheless an intended meaning: liberation of the true nature eliminates fundamental ignorance; liberation of real wisdom eliminates [the afflictions of] view and thought; liberation of expedient means eliminates [afflictions like] dust and sand. Gathering the specific into the general and selecting the general through the specific—one should grasp the meaning so as not to lose the perfect intent.
