Second, from "Now the room..." downward, resolving the sūtra and explaining doubts, which has two [parts]: first, resolving the text of the sūtra below; second, explaining two kinds of doubts. As for the question's intent: since both are the Perfect, why is there the difference between the two kinds, the common aspect and the single mind? In the answer, discussing the Perfect in terms of the Shared means that in both the Shared and Distinct there are people who receive connection, hence it is said to discuss the Perfect in terms of the Shared. Because people who receive connection are not identical to those who cultivate the Perfect from beginning to end, the common aspect is required to distinguish them from the single mind. Regarding "It is likely..." and so forth, because the period and division were not yet harmonized, there was connection; the Lotus Sūtra opens and reveals, and there is solely the single perfect fusion.
