Second, from "First, in terms of," below, explaining the meaning following the text, in four: first, in terms of the four equanimities. Jingxi says: Regarding "no giver and no recipient" and so forth, the intention is to clarify great equanimity as unconditioned compassion; therefore, for both [the giver and recipient] it says "none." Hence, taking the four kinds of ineffable dharmas as equanimity is the very principle of the essence of great renunciation. Regarding "In the equal, true dharmadhātu, the Buddha does not deliver sentient beings" and so forth, within this renunciation, the three—loving-kindness, compassion, and sympathetic joy—are the intention to deliver, while non-attachment within renunciation is non-delivery. However, the four [immeasurables], the six [perfections], and the various miscellaneous practices are each and every one an independent gift of Dharma; they are merely listed side by side because they wish to bring one another to completion.
