Fourth, Māra further offers women. As for the sūtra saying "to provide for sweeping and sprinkling": the former is pronounced *xī*, the latter *suǒ*. The *Tongsuwen* states: "Using water to settle dust is called sprinkling." The *Quli* says: "Presenting women to the Son of Heaven is called providing. For the common people to the ruler of a state, it is called providing wine and broth; to a grandee, it is called providing for sweeping and sprinkling." Zheng Xuan says: "Wine, broth, sweeping, and sprinkling are the duties of women." Master [Daosheng] says: "Because he expounds the Dharma, he could deceitfully pretend to follow good, but in reality he wished to bewilder him with women."
