“[Thus each of the bodhisattvas related to the Buddha their past circumstances, and recounting the words of Vimalakīrti, all said they were not competent to go there to inquire about his illness.]” This is the second [part], where the thirty-two thousand bodhisattvas each decline as not being competent; the text merely does not record them all.
