贊曰：眾圓滿中有二，初列大眾、後辨威儀，此第二也。文復有三：一標威儀、二舉喻況、三顯尊勝，此初也。三業翹仰，恭也。一心崇重，敬也。周環而覩，圍也。遍匝順化，繞也。四眾有此威儀，如來應機為說，未演此經前有說故。

Commentary: Within the fulfillment of the assembly there are two [parts]: first, listing the great assembly; second, explaining the demeanor. This is the second. The text again has three parts: first, indicating the demeanor; second, presenting a simile; third, manifesting the venerable supremacy. This is the first. Looking up with reverence in the three karmas is 'respect.' Single-mindedly venerating and esteeming is 'reverence.' Gazing around in a circle is 'surrounding.' Encircling everywhere and according with transformation is 'circumambulating.' Because the four assemblies had this demeanor, the Tathāgata expounded the Dharma for them according to their capacities, for he had spoken before expounding this sūtra.
