Commentary: This text has three parts: Sixth, manifesting the hundred koṭis of four great continents. 'Continents' refers to islands; the four great islands each exist within water, and hence are called 'continents.' Pūrvavideha in the east, Aparagodānīya in the west, Jambudvīpa in the south, and Uttarakuru in the north—their lifespans, increases and decreases, locations, shapes, dimensions, and marks of formation and destruction are all as explained in the fourth fascicle of the Yogācārabhūmi. Because this sūtra intends to explain profound and wondrous correct principles, these phenomenal aspects are not explained in detail. Seventh, manifesting the various palaces, such as the sun and the moon. The heights, dimensions, and names of the sun and moon are as explained in the Yogācārabhūmi and other texts. Eighth, manifesting royal kingdoms, along with various nations, cities, and so forth. This was absent in the old text. These appearing as reflections signifies that upon attaining Buddhahood, one achieves the wisdom of all modes (sarvākārajñatā). 'All appeared in this way within this jeweled parasol' summarizes it together.
