Commentary: This one verse explains that sentient beings, having received this, are able to cross over saṃsāra. 'By means of this wondrous Dharma' resumes the above wheel of the Dharma; having attained the culmination of the fruit, he has no further fear; having transcended saṃsāra, he has no further fear; therefore he attains Nirvāṇa whose essence is ever peaceful and tranquil, and so it is said that the Buddha is the great king of physicians who is able to cross sentient beings over saṃsāra. 'I now bow my head to the ocean of boundless merit.' The older reading says: 'Once received, non-retrogressing, ever tranquil'—having attained the original tranquility, he does not retrogress anymore and is therefore ever tranquil; this misses the meaning of fearlessness and dreadlessness.
