贊曰：上者增上。凡修善時，發起增上猛利威勢，名上意樂，故其善法有情來生。舊云「深心增上猛利之意樂」，亦是深心故，義得文疎。

Commentary: "Superior" means predominant. Whenever cultivating goodness, arousing a predominant, vehement, and vigorous power is called "superior intention"; therefore, sentient beings of wholesome dharmas come to be born [there]. The older [translation] says "deep mind"; a predominant and vehement intention is also the deep mind, so the meaning is conveyed, though the phrasing was loose.
