贊曰：下有九轉，顯嚴土因所生勝果。於中有二：初之兩轉，明嚴前因感淨土果；後之七轉，明淨土成更生勝果。此初文也。由嚴前因感勝眾生，故言由此有清淨有情。離惡而修於善，此乃菩薩本所欣求，乃為如來佛土清淨，諸有情土是佛土故。內有情界土既為清淨，外器界土自亦清淨，以心淨故佛土清淨。

Commentary: Below are nine developments revealing the supreme fruits produced by the causes for adorning the land. Within this there are two: the first two developments clarify that cultivating the preceding causes brings about the fruit of a pure land; the subsequent seven developments clarify that once the pure land is accomplished, further supreme fruits are generated. This is the first text. Because cultivating the preceding causes brings about superior sentient beings, it is said that thereby there are pure sentient beings. Leaving behind evil and cultivating good is originally what the bodhisattva seeks, and it constitutes the purity of the Tathāgata's Buddha-land, because the lands of sentient beings are Buddha-lands. Since the inner land of the realm of sentient beings is pure, the external vessel world is naturally also pure, because when the mind is pure, the Buddha-land is pure.
