贊曰：下持髻喻。文有五重：一持髻告、二鶖子詰、三持髻喻、四鶖子指陳、五正理慰喻。此初文也。勿作汝心謂土不淨，今此佛土最極清淨故。舊文有三，無第二詰，乃合第三喻答為第一，最後文中復少差別。

Commentary: Below is the simile of Śikhin. The text has five layers: first, Śikhin's statement; second, Śāriputra's cross-examination; third, Śikhin's simile; fourth, Śāriputra's pointing out [what he sees]; fifth, the consolation through correct reasoning. This is the first passage. Do not produce the thought in your mind that the land is impure, for this Buddha-land is supremely pure. The older text had three sections, lacking the second cross-examination, and merged the third simile-reply as the first; in the final text there is again a slight difference.
