贊曰：下正理慰喻。有二：初顯彼心不淨故見穢方，後顯菩薩心淨便見淨土。此初文也。淨心高下，行不嚴淨，復謂佛智意亦有高下，而便見土恒不清淨，故諸異生及二乘位皆見土穢。

Commentary: Below is the consolation through correct reasoning. There are two parts: first, revealing that because their minds are impure they see an impure realm; second, revealing that when bodhisattvas' minds are pure, they see a pure land. This is the first passage. Because the purity of their minds has higher and lower degrees and their practice is not adorned and pure, they further assume that the Buddha's wisdom and intentions also have higher and lower degrees, and thus they constantly see the land as impure. Therefore, both ordinary beings and those in the stages of the two vehicles see the land as impure.
